What is a
process assessment?

A process assessment is an independent, pre-implementation engagement that documents how a business process runs today (the current state), defines how it should run (the future state), and quantifies the delta difference between them. It produces three deliverables and a roadmap, and it shows whether a project is justified before anything is built or bought.

The three deliverables

What a process assessment produces
DeliverableDefinitionQuestion it answers
Current stateThe process as it actually runs, not the org-chart version, baselined in hours, downtime, licenses and missed opportunity.Where are we, in numbers?
Future stateWhat good looks like for a business your size, in your industry, with the implications of getting there.Where should we be?
Delta differenceThe quantified distance between the two: efficiency gained, steps removed, hours returned per employee, and troubleshooting and support avoided. Is the change worth making?

A prioritized roadmap accompanies the three deliverables so the delta can be acted on by whoever you choose to execute it.

What counts as a process?

A repeatable, end-to-end workflow with a clear trigger and outcome, along with the people, systems and handoffs it touches. Device deployment, order-to-cash and employee onboarding are processes. A single department or a single software tool is not, though both appear inside processes. The scope of an assessment is agreed before it starts.

How an assessment runs

Animated four-stage flow: Understand, Optimize, Quantify, Execute.
  1. Working session. You bring the challenge; we find the real goal behind it. No charge.
  2. Scope. We agree which processes are in and how deep to go. A confidentiality agreement is signed before any data is shared.
  3. Assess. Using data you provide, we establish the current state, define the future state and its implications, and quantify the delta difference.
  4. Decision. You receive the current state, future state, quantified delta and roadmap, and decide whether the project is justified and who executes it.

When a process assessment is the right first step

  • Before a platform change, such as an ERP or CRM replacement.
  • When a process is clearly broken but the cause is not.
  • When you suspect you need more from the technology you already own, not more technology.
  • When a project needs a number you can defend to a board or a finance leader.

A small delta is a valid answer. It tells you not to spend on a project that would not pay back. Either way, the decision is made on a quantified opportunity.

Frequently asked questions

What is a process assessment?

An independent, pre-implementation engagement that documents the current state of a process, defines the future state, and quantifies the delta difference between them, so you know whether a project is justified before anything is built or bought.

What does a process assessment produce?

A documented current state, a defined future state and the quantified delta difference, plus a prioritized roadmap.

What counts as a process?

A repeatable, end-to-end workflow with a clear trigger and outcome, along with the people, systems and handoffs it touches, such as device deployment, order-to-cash or employee onboarding.

How is a process assessment different from process mapping?

Process mapping documents how work flows. An assessment also defines the future state and quantifies the delta, so the output is a decision about whether to change, not only a diagram.

What do you need from us?

Access to the people who run the process and the data behind it, covered by a confidentiality agreement signed before any data is shared.

Bring us the process you cannot see clearly

We will establish the current state, define the future state and quantify the delta difference. The first conversation costs nothing.
